The History of Money
9000 BC - The first form of currency started in 9000 BC. They used animals like cows, sheep and camel. As time passed, people started growing their own produce and they soon used grains and vegetables

1200 BC- In 1200 BC, the Pacific and Indian Oceans, China and some parts of Africa started using cowrie shells as currency. In some other parts of the world, they used shark teeth, animal skin and beads as currency.

1000 BC- In 1000 BC, China was the first country to use metal in their coins. They made imitations of cowries on the money using bronze and copper. 

500 BC-  In this century Lydia,( a place which is now in Turkey), made coins from a mixture of gold and silver. They were stamped to show they were not fake.

806 AD- In this century, the Chinese started using and making paper money as there was a large shortage of gold and copper around the world.
