Recount- My Spectacular day at Blockhouse Bay Beach

My Spectacular Day at Hamilton Gardens

It was a sweltering hot day in late December when I went to the Hamilton Gardens. I went with my mum, brother and dad. Before  we entered I thought it would be really boring but soon after being there I thought it was mesmerising and a really enjoyable place to visit.

Firstly we had to pick the starting  destination. At the entrance, there was a big map with every place in the ginormous garden. While we were waiting for our parents to choose the place we were going to go first, my brother was complaining “ It’s too hot, I want an ice block.”  My brother is really annoying and troublesome. Then my dad said, “Be patient, Aryan,” in a really annoyed way. Finally, my parents had picked the first spot we were going to. We were going to start by visiting all the cultural flowers and plants of each country or continent.

On the way to the garden, we took photos by the fountain that took center stage to the small open hall. I wasn’t in the mood for photos as all I wanted to do was eat.  Even though I had just had KFC before coming, I was still hungry.

The first garden we visited was the Indian garden. There were really gorgeous flowers like marigolds and daisies.   My favourite flowers were all the flowers as I couldn’t choose which one was most gorgeous. There were water pools in between all the sections of flowers.  I think that all the four flower sections represented the flowers you can find in the four parts of India. I wish we could have walked in the tiny water pools.

The next greenhouse we went to was the Chinese one. It was full of plants that you would mostly only find in China.  In my opinion, it was not as beautiful and cool as the Char Bagh garden.

We went and visited the Italian garden, French Garden and quite a few other gardens that I forgot the names of.

Next we went to a really fascinating garden with lots of different fruits and vegetables and we got another photo taken with a funny looking scarecrow. He looked just like the scarecrow from, ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.’

The last place we went to was the playground and it was amazing and entertaining. Sadly, the swings were really low and we couldn’t swing that hard or high, but it was still really entertaining. My favourite thing on the playground was the really enormous part of it.  It had a really high bridge and the bottom of the bridge reached my head. When I was on the bridge I almost slipped.

By the end of the trip I was starting to feel drowsy and so dizzy that I could faint because of the heat. Australia’s heatwave was affecting New Zealand so it was hotter than it would usually be in summer here. I thought that the Hamilton Gardens were the best gardens that I had ever visited. My dad said we might go there again.
