My Wild Self

Red spitting cobra hood - Your red spitting cobra hood is spread open because that makes you look bigger and more threatening. That'll help you scare off other bully animals.

Hornbill beak - Your hornbill beak (also called a casque) is used to amplify your nasal calls. It's like talking through your nose. And it won't weigh you down since it's made with hollow cells and bones.

Gibbon arms - Your Gibbon arms are designed especially for swinging in trees. With these arms you can jump distances of over 20 feet from branch to branch.

Chilean flamingo legs - you'd think flamingos stand on one leg by locking their knees. But those are actually their ankles. They stand like that to conserve energy. How long can you stand on one leg?

Monarch butterfly wings - Your monarch butterfly wings can beat five times per second. Can you flap your arms five times in one second?

My Wild Self

In front of me was a mesmerising and super unnatural creature unlike anything I had seen before. She had a grey hornbill beak with a yellow and black casque on the top of its beak. She has a mix of brown and orange hair that almost reached her waist.  Her eyes and ears were really human like and looked out of place with all the other huge features that really stood out. Sticking out from the back of her head was a large red spitting cobra hood that looked almost like the collar on the top of maleficent's cape from ‘Disney Descendants’ the movie. She had skin the colour of a soft peach.

She had a neck, but it could barely be seen. She wore a pretty purple polo shirt with cute little hearts. Her enormous gibbon monkey arms were so huge that she would have to bend her arms to reach her toes. Her arms where hairy and a mix of orange and yellow whereas her palms were pitch black. Sticking out from her back, were a pair of elegant and gorgeous monarch butterfly wings. She had a cushioned flamingo bottom and legs. The top of her looked so soft that I thought if you were to sit on it, it would be like sitting on a really comfortable pillow. Her legs looked like bamboo sticks.

As I was leaving . . . . . I heard someone speak. It wasn’t an animal like sound, it sounded like a human. I was pretty sure I was the only human in that forest at that time. It was obvious that no one else could’ve spoke except for the creature so I looked behind me….. It was the creature.  She was a really nice creature. She had an elegant and sweet voice. “My name is Amy but everyone in my family calls me Crazy Amy.” Then just as I was going to ask her where her family was, she spoke again. “My family and I came for a trip but as we were walking through the forest, I asked my little sister ,Ella, a question but since I didn't get a reply, I turned around....Then I noticed they were gone.” I felt really bad for her. But there were two things that were making me ponder, how could she read my mind and were there more of her kind?

Overall, when I had left the forest I felt sad that I had to go and I couldn’t help Amy. She was like my friend now. I felt proud that I was the first ever person to ever meet one of Amy’s kind.
