Bartering

Bartering Definition

Bartering is a form of trade.  It is when you trade or exchange goods/services you own or have for someone else’s goods/services. In order to barter, you need to have something the person you're exchanging your goods or services with wants or needs. For example, I want the book my friend has but in order to get what she has I need to give her something she wants. But, it needs to be an equal exchange. If I swapped the book for a lollipop, that would be unfair bartering. If I exchanged my book for my friend's book, that would be fair bartering.
